The first row of photographs are from Monet's gardens at Giverny, where he lived and painted for 4 decades.
The day of my visit was exceptionally fine, with the gardens, and particularly the lilies, in their glory. At my exhibition of this series,
visitors commented on their "serene, magical quality" invoking "peace and tranquility." I bring the
same eye to my photographs of all gardens, be it in a portrait of an entire garden or a close-up of a prized specimen.
